Schluter DITRA-HEAT DUO 3' 3" x 2' 7" (8.6 sq. ft.) Membrane Sheet
Schluter DITRA-HEAT-DUO is an uncoupling and waterproofing membrane with an integrated bonding fleece that provides sound control and a thermal break. DITRA-HEAT-DUO sheets are helpful when working in a room with a problematic layout when installing floor heating cables to create a warm, luxurious tile floor.
Features
- Provides electric floor warming for use beneath tile, stone, or other resilient floor coverings (e.g., LVT)
- Reduces impact sound transmission through floor-ceiling assemblies, making it ideal for multi-story construction
- Reduces heat loss to the substrate for up to 70% faster heat-up times over concrete during temperature increase demands
- Nominal 5/16” (8mm) thickness minimizes tile assembly thickness and reduces transitions to lower surface coverings
- Self-leveling compounds are not required to encapsulate the cables into the membranes
- The stud structure of DITRA-HEAT-DUO is specifically designed to allow for the easy installation of DITRA-HEAT-E-HK heating cables
- Quick and easy to install, and few tools are required
- Patent pending
Common Questions
Do you need to wait for DITRA to dry before tiling?
Once the DITRA-HEAT membrane has been installed, the heating cables embedded within it have been tested, and the tile can be installed right away. There is no need to wait for the thin-set mortar to cure.
Does DITRA-HEAT warm the room?
While DITRA-HEAT does offer some radiant heat that contributes to the overall comfort of the space, it is not designed to be a primary heating source for the entire room. Its principal function is to provide a floor-warming solution, creating a pleasant and inviting floor surface, especially during colder months.
