Great cutter

I have used these cutters for years while doing tile installation as a professional. Been at it for over 30 years and have used a lot of different cutters for doing my job but these cutters, if well maintained will do a great job of cutting tile straight and accurately if use correctly. There is a graphite pad and spring in the handle that will wear down that needs to be replaced on occasion. I see that they have that part here but it appears that you have to purchase the entire new handle to get that pad. It isn't that expensive but it is more than what I used to pay for just the pad. The other important replacement part that you can find here is the cutting wheel. After cutting for quite a long time the cutting wheel becomes dull and the sleeve that you can see in pic of the wheel becomes worn down and gets sloppy. Be sure to lubricate with silicone spray.(not wd 40 or other lubes) before each day of using this cutter to keep from wearing things out too quick and make the cutter work way easier. They also sell new pads that go in the bottom of the cutter but these last for many years if you store your cutter properly after each use. If you are just a diy kind of installer these parts will take halfway to forever to need to be changed out so this will be a great cutter for you. The largest of the cutters available is called a piano cutter.(for obvious reason) but is just as good as the rest of them and they all take the same replacement parts. The little red triangle shaped inserts you see in the pic are great for keeping the tiles from being marred by the metal of the snapping device while you snap the tiles with after scoring it with the wheel. Most tiles only need a slight amount of pressure when scoring and they you move the handle back to the top or away from you and push it down lightly at the back of the handle to snap the tile where you just scored it. Be sure not to let the tile move from over the metal bar that goes between the pads on the cutter base so the breaker comes down on the tile and the score is directly over the bar when you apply slight pressure to the tile to snap it. The breaker is the part that looks a little like wings that are on the bottom of the handle that come down on the tile when you place pressure on the back and bottom side of the handle to snap where you just scored the tile. Personally I think these cutters are great for smaller tiles, say up the 8" tiles, but you can snap up to 16" tiles with it if the tile isn't too thick. Larger and thicker tiles might need a bigger more powerful cutter to do the work tho. Hope this helps to learn how to use this cutter properly.

good with ceramic

Only for ceramic tiles. It works ok but porcelain jobs will need other cutter more powerful

Superior #2 Good stuff

I bought this cutter for small bathroom tiles. It allows for very precise cuts with the large support pads on either side of the cutter.

Made my first tile experience a breeze!

As an avid do-it-yourselfer, I had never tackled the job of mosaic glass tiles. I researched quite a bit and this tile cutter always got great reviews. It truly was much easier than I thought. The tile cutter is sturdy and easy to use. I cracked very very few tiles. Highly recommended!!
